Family Care
Within the cycle of chemical dependency, the
user is the primary component, but some experts suggest that addiction
is a family disease, affecting all whom the user has come in contact
with. In some cases loved ones have enabled the user through codependent
or obligatory behaviors, inadvertently giving the user mixed messages.
Many times close family members have either tried to help the
drug addicted user, or they themselves have a problem with substance
abuse and are chemically dependent. Most commonly, miscommunications
and constant disruption as a result of using has torn families
apart and created strains in meaningful relationships.
Adult Drug Rehab
For this reason the Chemical Dependency Center
(CDC) offers programs that specifically address chemically dependent
issues, such as crystal meth addiction, that deal with family
relationships and the dynamics within individual families. Because
each family is different, no one course of action can treat everyone,
so at our adult drug rehab, drug addiction
rehab, a counselor works closely with the drug addicted individuals
and then the family as a whole to sort out problems and conflicts,
both past and present.
Family care relies on the willingness of family
members to participate in the drug addicted persons' recovery
and share openly and honestly about his/her actions in the past.
Dealing with hurt emotions and deep issues is a very difficult
process; however the healing that it brings is well worth the
uncomfortability. Our adult drug rehab also offers family groups
that address the chemically dependent individuals.
